TOXINS

Have you ever asked yourself this question, why is it today we have more obese people? Up 67% of the population are overweight today. There were a great lot less many years ago.

A few, but in no way were they around as they are today, and believe me it will get worse. It will not get any better unless people educate themselves. Unless they know why this is happening, the problem will continue to grow.

Think of this; in the 1950′ and 60’s we never had so many obese people as we have today. In fact, I believe people did not get fat, they just did not like to draw attention to themselves.

I guess there were one or two around, however lot too many.

Don’t tell me it was because some of us did not have enough to eat, because even then we had those who were financially comfortable but did look after themselves. Their health and well being was as it should be.

We did not see overweight people as we see today. I recall I went to Las Vegas and observed numerous ladies sitting next to slot machines pumping in their quarters These ladies definitely fitted what I refer to as obese.

Weight loss for good, is the goal of anyone unhappy with their current size or shape. The information on this web site is aimed at anyone who wants to lose weight and keep it off.

We don’t have to tell you, being obese can have serious consequences to your health. These include an increased risk of heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes, gallstones, and some forms of cancer. Losing weight can help reduce each of these risks.

According to research by the Discovery Health Channel, 50 percent of children do not get enough exercise to develop healthy heart and lung systems. Furthermore, 78 percent have at least one heart disease risk and 20 to 30 percent are already obese. Adults are in even worse shape with 64 percent not getting enough exercise to maintain healthy heart and lung systems, 24 percent never exercise, and more than 45 percent are overweight.

Victims of a Toxic Colon

Have you ever considered this simple question: Are you clean inside? We shower, brush our teeth and wash our hair on a daily basis, but we tend to ignore cleansing our insides until some form of disease sends us a wake-up call. Believe it or not, our insides, especially the colon which functions as the “sewer system” of our body, also requires regular cleaning.

Constipation, parasites, IBS, gas, bloating, stomach pain, chronic fatigue, digestive problems can all be signs of a toxic colon. Don’t be a victim, suffering silently from these painful and often embarrassing health conditions. Find out the truth about colon cleansing and how it can help you.

Why Is Colon Cleansing So Crucial?

We are all exposed to thousands of toxins and chemicals on a daily basis at work, in the home, through the air we breathe, our food and water supply, and through the use of harmaceutical drugs. In addition, we are eating more sugar and processed foods than ever before in human history and regularly abuse our bodies with various stimulants and sedatives.

“Death Begins in the Colon”

These toxins and “dead” foods lead to poor digestion, constipation, toxic colon build-up, weight gain and low energy.

These common symptoms are more than just an inconvenience they can lead to long-term health problems and serious disease.

“Of all the polite topics of conversation, the state of one’s intestines is probably at the bottom of most people’s lists.

Let’s face it: Irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, gas, diverticulitis and colon cancer are simply not things we like to discuss. And yet, as the old expression goes, death begins in the colon. Don’t believe it? Ask any coroner. Autopsies often reveal colons that are plugged up to 80 percent with waste material.” Vegetarian Times, March, 1998

“Parasites May Rule the World”

This waste material is home to, in the words of National Geographic, “a sinister world of monstrous creatures that feed on living flesh: parasites”. Discover magazine published a feature article in its August 2000 issue: “Every living thing has at least one parasite that lives inside or on it, and many, including humans, have far more. …Scientists…are only just beginning to discover exactly how powerful these hidden inhabitants can be, but their research is pointing to a remarkable possibility: Parasites may rule the world. The notion that tiny creatures we’ve largely taken for granted are such a dominant force is immensely disturbing. We are collections of cells that work together, kept harmonized by chemical signals.

If an organism can control those signals an organism like a parasite then it can control us. And therein lies the peculiar and precise horror of parasites.”

The combination of environmental toxins, an unhealthy diet and parasites poses a grave danger to humans. “In fact, parasites have killed more humans than all the wars in history”, reported National Geographic in its award-winning documentary, The Body Snatchers.

In order to rid ourselves of these toxins it was required someone came up with a body cleanse which would be able to clean out the fat particles, and the toxins from the colon, liver, kidneys and lungs, plus all the other organs. I am happy to say I used John Anderson’s natural cleanse, after I used it I felt 100% better and full of energy.

Heart disease is THE major killer of both men and women.

Studies show that people who eat raw almonds regularly have a lower (up to 50%!) risk of cardiac arrest. Almonds contain a high level of arginine, an amino acid that helps the body manufacture nitric oxide that relaxes and widens blood vessels.

Increasing blood flow helps to unclog the arteries. Amino acid helps to prevent deposits of cholesterol in the arteries. Additional nutrients support health and vitality.

Can almonds save your life?

Almonds significantly decrease your risk of heart disease, diabetes, and cancer, reduce your weight — and add nutrition (vitamin e) and natural oils that reduce wrinkles and the look of aging.

“Annually, over a

quarter-of-a-million

deaths are caused by medicine

(latrogenic illness).

This is more than

cardiovascular disease

(the second leading cause

of death) and cancer

(the third cause of death.)

NutritionInstituteofAmerica.org

Allopathic or Rx Meds are the leading cause of death in the U.S. Heart disease is the next leading cause of death (United States.) Studies involving more than 200,000 participants show that diets that include a handful of raw almonds a day help significantly to reduce the risk of heart disease. Almonds – and a healthy lifestyle – reduce your NEED for Rx meds. Raw almonds help you avoid the leading killers of both men and women.

Why? Because raw almonds contain powerful antioxidants and anti-inflammatories and heart disease is an inflammatory condition. Taking Rx meds ups your risk too.

“Health requires healthy food.” Roger Williams

Raw shelled almonds are a “Superfood.”

Health and vitality are choices you make every day, with every meal and snack you eat. Superfoods, like almonds, are foods that have been used for centuries for their nutrition and healing properties. Small daily amounts of Superfoods return huge benefits.

It is only recently that the new scientific discoveries show what your ancestors knew to be true. Almonds have the ability to sustain your energy and restore your health and vitality daily. Almonds are especially effective after an illness or physical set-back.

Did you know that it only takes a handful of almonds a day (about 3-4 ounces) to lower your risk of heart attack and diabetes? That is, if almonds are your primary source of fat. The healthy choice is to cut out all other fats (but olive oil) and replace them with almonds. Here’s why.

The monounsaturated fats in almonds begin lowering your total cholesterol within a week or so. More important – almonds also lower the LDL cholesterol, or the “bad” cholesterol that is harmful to your heart, arteries and immune system.

“Let food be thy medicine,

and let thy medicine be food.” Hippocrates

Snack your way to a healthy heart.

Make almonds your ’snack of choice.’ That half-cup of almonds can return amazing health benefits naturally. In several studies almonds lowered heart problems by more than 50%. It’s a natural cure that works – rather than supplements, that cost more and may or may not be absorbed into your body’s system.

When you eat between three and four ounces of almonds, several times a week, you lower your total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol: Without lowering the HDL, or good cholesterol.

Almonds prevent gallstone buildup.

Almonds also lower your risk for gallstones. By lowering total cholesterol, almonds help the body to control the amount of LDL cholesterol that enters your gallbladder. That lowers the risk of cholesterol crystallizing into gallstones.

Make that raw, organic – and fresh.

Eat organic nutritious almonds instead of the fats now in your diet (like fried food, dairy and dressings.) You’ll reap the benefit of lowering your cholesterol and risk of heart attack. The nuts tested in the studies were raw and unsalted — not roasted in oil and salted.

The researchers also found a “diet” benefit.

Unexpected weight loss resulted, even though the participants were consuming nuts several times a week Participants did not gain weight and some were actually losing pounds. Why? The small amount of nuts eaten during the study were so filling that they craved, and ate, fewer of their usual high-fat snacks like fried foods and chips and dips.

“The doctor of the future

will no longer treat the human

frame with drugs,

but rather will cure and prevent

disease with nutrition.”

Thomas Edison

Almonds facts and figures.

Here’s the nutritional profile of raw almonds: 4 ounces contain 25 grams of protein, 12 grams of fiber, and significant: calcium, potassium, zinc, vitamin E, and traces of magnesium.

Almonds are “filling” because they are high nutrition – providing protein, fiber, and minerals, and contain health-promoting monounsaturated fat.

Nuts are a perfect “travel,” quick convenience food.

Organic almonds are naturally preserved by their “shell” for long storage. Shelled almonds keep fresh in the refrigerator in sealed containers for months. Organic is worth the cost as some sprayed pesticides and fungicides are “systemic.” That means the poison is infused into the tree and soil, ending up in the “fruit.”

Include heart-healthy raw almonds every day – here is how.

Add almonds to sandwich “fillings” and salads, to soups and stews.

Blend up a fruit or veggie smoothie and add raw almonds.

Add raw almonds to cereal, fruit or add raw organic almond butter to toast or sandwich.

Add raw almonds (after cooking) to rice pudding and to ice cream, pies, cookies and cakes.

Cooked almonds lose their curative properties. Eat them raw for their nutritional benefits. Health and vitality build with every meal – and you choose fresh every day.

“The difference between

perseverance and obstinacy

is that one often comes from

a strong will, and the other

from a strong won’t.”

Henry Ward Beecher

Changing for the better.

Changing diet habits and favorite snacks is tough – only because the craving is a habit. If you have a habit that is limiting your energy – and even your life – it’s worth it to make the changes, isn’t it?

It takes about 21 days of concentration to set a new habit – and build your future on a healthy, happy body. It is the only one you got – might as well take care of it!

Almonds improve your heart’s survival chances by more than 50%. Why not relieve the stress that underlies all dis-ease – and be 100% heart-safe? It’s easy to change your mind and live stress free. All it takes is your desire, commitment and a plan that suits your lifestyle. It’s all up to you.

Your Good Fortune: “Do not give up. The best is yet to come.”

There Is Something Fishy About Triglycerides
by: Greg Post

I get a kick out of those commercials which portray conversations at the kitchen table or in the locker room in ways that we don’t normally see. Two women sipping coffee from pretty china cups might naturally start discussing headache medications or hygiene. Men might forgo the normal locker room banter for the much superior topics of foot care or that insurance that only a duck can seem to remember. Some people even get so excited about their cholesterol that they stop perfect strangers on the street to announce significant reductions in their own cholesterol levels.

Some of these commercials give us an excuse to leave the room for more pressing matters, while others make us smile in appreciation of their creativity. But there is one thing they have in common. They direct our attention to topics of great importance that we don’t naturally discuss. High cholesterol is one such topic. Fortunately cholesterol is getting more press these days. Not only do television commercials and news reports discuss the dangers of high cholesterol, but even cereal boxes are preaching the message.

Cholesterol is not the only enemy of heart health that is attracting more attention. Triglycerides are gaining notoriety in the public eye as adversarial to a healthy heart. Though triglycerides might not be the topic of choice in the average locker room I think it is safe to assume that it is of greater importance than the majority of subjects that occupy center stage in that arena. Whether or not we choose to speak of such things most of us know something of their importance and secretly hope they do not become an important factor in our lives or in the lives of those we love. But sticking one’s head in the proverbial sand is hardly proactive and does nothing to avoid potential problems. If triglycerides are an important health concern we should face the problem eye to eye and take action in true Western style.

Many doctors have not been alarmed with high triglyceride levels in their patients as long as cholesterol levels and other components of the lipid profile are within an acceptable range. That is because many believe that triglyceride levels alone do not adversely affect the heart. However, some studies are beginning to alter that thinking. For example, one study at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore demonstrated that people who are middle-aged or older having triglyceride levels above 100 are twice as likely to suffer from a heart attack, die from a heart attack or undergo treatment related to heart health than are people with triglyceride levels below 100 (Journal of the American College of Cardiology, May 1998). When we consider that triglycerides below 150 are within the accepted “normal” range we have cause to rethink the importance of triglycerides.

Heart health is not the only thing affected by triglycerides. A report in the Journal of the American Heart Association stated that high triglycerides are associated with ischemic stroke and transient ischemic attacks (TIA). This conclusion came from an eight year study involving 11,177 patients with coronary heart disease and no history of stroke or TIA. Those patients who later suffered from strokes or TIAs had higher than average levels of triglycerides and lower than average levels of HDL cholesterol.

There is no lack of research supporting the thesis that high triglyceride levels, either in conjunction with other risk factors or as an independent risk indicator, puts one in a more dangerous position in relation to heart attack or stroke. There are many folks who would ignore this fact even if a duck could learn to say “Triglycerides”. But what about the rest of us? Some of us are concerned. What can we do?

In the early 1970’s two Danish researchers observed that Eskimos had diets very high in fatty fish. They expected to find that these people would have high incidence of heart disease. In fact they found the exact opposite. It was discovered that the blood platelets of Eskimos were not as sticky as those of their European and American counterparts. The researchers attributed this “non-sticky” characteristic to the omega-3 fatty acids consumed in the Eskimos’ diet. Further studies have brought increased knowledge of the effects of fish oils and especially omega-3 fatty acids for the reduction of blood pressure and fat in the blood. Studies continue to uncover the positive effects that omega-3 fatty acids have in the treatment of heart disease, cancer, diabetes, asthma and arthritis.

Concerning heart health, fish oils decrease the risk of sudden death from arrhythmia, decrease blood clotting, reduce atherosclerosis, help lower blood pressure and improve arterial health. More particular to this essay is the fact that study upon study has demonstrated that the fish oils in cold water fish have triglyceride reducing powers. It is no wonder the American Heart Association since the year 2000 has been preaching the importance of healthy adults eating fish.

But what about unhealthy adults already struggling with high triglycerides? The answer that many researchers are giving is, “Eat more fish.” Or more precisely, ingest more omega-3 fatty acids. People who have elevated triglycerides may need 2 to 4 grams of EPA and DHA (omega-3 fatty acids) per day provided as a supplement. High levels of omega-3 can not be ingested through diet alone. You should consult a physician to discuss taking supplements to reduce heart disease risk. Patients taking more than 3 grams of omega-3 fatty acids from supplements should do so only under a physician’s care.

Let’s face it. Our diets are not nearly what they should be. It isn’t just about calories, carbohydrates and thin waistlines. Our hearts need more omega-3. If you are a fish lover then indulge your fantasies. Eat more. If you don’t love the slimy little creatures then fish oil supplements might be your answer. Perhaps what we need is not a talking duck. Perhaps a talking trout would be more apropos to get the message out. But I suppose that would be counter productive for the trout.

Laughing At Really Funny Jokes Keeps Heart Attack Away

The adage, “laughter is the best medicine”, proves to be true when it comes to keeping heart attacks at bay. Recent studies conducted at a university in Baltimore show that people who always have a good laugh are less likely to have heart diseases. Further, people with heart diseases are found 40% less probable to laugh and become humorous compared to people to those without heart problems. If this is true, the very elixir that could solve a serious medical condition pertaining to the heart is found the very primordial act of laughing at really funny jokes.

A good belly laugh considered to be a form of exercise. It can serve as an “internal exercise because it provides a good cardiac stimulation and conditioning. This is especially important to those who don’t have the time to exercise or do physical activities. Laughing also prevents hypertension because it lessens the likeliness of stress. It relaxes muscles and lessens the supply of dopamine in he blood, a hormone known to induce the fight or flight response.

Knowing all these, how can you practice the habit of laughing to keep heart attack away? Here are some ways.

1. Think of happy thoughts.

Keeping a light-hearted disposition is crucial in preventing heart attacks. Try to recall the things that you find funny. This may include a hilarious scene on TV, news or an event. Whenever stress starts keeping in, think about these situations can lower your stress and anxiety levels.

2. Engage in a healthy and entertaining conversation with close friends.

Doing this does not only produce some natural laughter, but also helps maintain good mental health. It gives a light feeling and relieves tension.

3. Watch funny movies and TV shows.

This is probably one of the easiest things to do to laugh. Immersing in the hilarity of others’ propensity for funny antics is the ultimate way to turn off sadness and stress. The heart benefits a lot from the laughter you give out.

4. Read some really funny jokes.

Fortunately, there are lots of good sites on the internet that feature jokes and pranks that people can laugh at. When the feeling of heaviness of heart creeps in, don’t wallow in misery. Taking care of the heart through laughi
1000
ng is very important.

5. Relax!

Don’t pretend to have fun, but let laughter come naturally. It is also not advisable to be so serious about life. If there’s a big hindrance on the road, don’t lash out and go berserk. Relax and respond humorously to everyday life’s situation. Think of positive things that could still induce some laughter amidst a stressful incident. Remember that most of the time, stress is only in the mind.

Nursing loneliness and anguish is the fastest way to a nasty and life-threatening heart attack. Don’t treat your heart like you have another one in the bank in case what you have fails to beat. Nurture a happy disposition, laugh at really funny jokes, and smile to ensure a healthy heart.

Okay. We all know walking is really, really good exercise, right? It’s good for our hearts, it’s good for our other muscles (of which the heart is the most important one), and it just plain helps with overall fitness.

The problem is, we have lots of excuses when it comes to not taking our walk today. It’s raining, it’s snowing, whatever. Well, now, you have no more excuses. Why?

Break out that dusty old treadmill that’s been sitting in the basement for the last 10 years. You probably have one, and if you don’t, you can get one very inexpensively on eBay or even buy one new pretty cheaply, too. Lace up your walking shoes, plant that thing in front of the television or pop on your iPod, and get walking.

Here’s the thing. Walking is the ONLY exercise you need to do at least to get started with your fitness program. It’s a great way to get started if you’re out of shape. As little as 20 minutes a day (10 to get started if you are really out of shape) is enough to burn significant calories, build muscle, and get your heart pumping, all of which you need for good health. And get this. The more you exercise and the more muscle you build, the more calories you burn. That means once you’ve gotten in some good walking time and have built up some muscle, you burn calories faster even when you’re resting.

The benefits of walking on a treadmill

Here’s what walking on a treadmill can do for you. It can give you better endurance, it can stave off heart failure (especially if you’re at risk), it can improve your circulation, it can strengthen your heart and cardiovascular system overall, and it can lower your blood pressure.

Treadmills work when you’re in good shape, too

The treadmill is a great piece of machinery overall, because it works for you whether you have been sedentary for a long time or whether you’re in pretty good shape and want to step up your workout one more notch. Once you’ve gotten better shape, you can ramp things up by jogging instead of walking on your treadmill. Or, you can buy some inexpensive ankle and arm weights and increase resistance that way.

Some of the newer treadmill models have the ability for you to increase the incline (either mechanically or manually) on the treadmill itself so that you’re walking uphill instead of on a level surface. This, increases resistance – therefore your workout. However, you shouldn’t do any of these more advanced exercises until you know you are in reasonably good shape. If you’ve been sedentary, again, a good decent walking pace is about 3 miles an hour, and is going to make you break a sweat and give you the 20 minute workout you need. Remember to stay on it for that long without breaking pace.

Of course, a final piece of advice is that you need to check with your doctor before you start any exercise program, especially if you’ve been sedentary for a long time. That said, though, once you’ve been cleared, break out that treadmill and start walking. You won’t be sorry, and you’ll see results in just a couple of weeks.

Find Out If You Are At Risk For Heart Disease

Each year, heart disease is taking toll of millions of people across the globe. While scientists are on a constant attempt to introduce advance methods in treating ailments of the heart, attempts are also being made to identify indications in the body that tell you whether you are at a risk for heart disease or not. Those found to be at a risk for heart disease can take precautions to avoid heart diseases.

The first step in preventing heart disease is to identify whether you are at risk for heart disease or not. Many theories have been put forward and many methods have been listed to identify whether you are at risk for heart disease. Some methods include a series of simple steps and others are so complicated that a thorough investigation of your DNA mapping needs to be done. While some methods are used to measure the risk are just vague and seem like guess work, some researchers take it up seriously and device appropriate strategies to determine certain traits in a person that call for action to prevent heart diseases.

Most studies consider BMI (Body Mass Index) as an indicator for heart disease . risks. But, a study conducted by the American College of Cardiology suggests that BMI alone is not enough to judge a person’s risk for heart disease. Researches involved with this study opine that the waist to hip ratio is the best indicator for general health and heart disease. So, even though your BMI falls in the healthy range, your waist-hip ratio can tell whether you have a healthy heart or not. Conversely, though your BMI tells that you are at risk for heart disease, your waist-hip ratio may actually have some good news for you about your heart health.

Most studies relate body weight to heart health. But every person who is overweight on the BMI scale need not have the risk for heart attack. Through the findings got from the study, researchers state that BMI does not identify patients who have fat deposits around the waist. They can merely determine the fat percentage of the entire body. This calculation is not enough to determine risk of heart disease in the person.

This study is a good reference for people who want to know if they have a risk for heart disease. Don’t let the BMI score mislead you in deciding that you are at risk for heart ailments in future
1000
. Make other tests in order to confirm your risk for heart disease before running into a panic.
